Freedom Series - Thorn

We spend some time in the backcountry of many mountain ranges. Bears and all sorts of animal and human variables come into play in the vast wilderness. My wife was looking for a defensive weapon from all sorts of predators and especially after some issues we had in the Grand Tetons and it’s surrounding areas. The thought was to get her into a 10mm however she saw this as well as I. She likes the thin grip of a 1911. My 1st pick for her would have been a Glock 10mm for the stopping power however she absolutely dislikes big grips and has some experience with Glocks. Now hear me out…The look of this online is very slick and appealing. She decided to go with the Fusion Thorn after pondering for some time and visiting some gun stores, Bass Pro being one of a few and they have a decent amount of 1911’s. She came back to this one. So did I really, it’s compact and will be easy to carry, durable and we have some defensive bear rounds in 45 acp. Once this arrived at the shop even the gun store was incredibly impressed and wanted to inquire with Fusion on purchasing a few. The craftsmanship is flawless. The fit from slide to receiver is smooth as glass and very little play. The crowned bull barrel is a great fit and functions with great accuracy. Even the cocobola grips are classy touch. The beaver tail safety has nice spring retention and the trigger is crisp. You can’t beat a 1911 trigger. These people did a great job with controlling and producing a great pistol. The racking of the slide is easy for her and it locks back on both ball and HP rounds as well as flat nose. From 185 grain to 23O grain. Not bad recoil as the weight is significant as it’s a 1911 so no surprise there.

We watch a lot of reviews on YouTube for firearms related content. Was very surprised there is really little to no data on this Fusion Thorn. Owner needs to get this out there to reviewers. I’m not the guy but some great reviewers out there like Hickock 45. People are missing out on this option. Living in Vegas we did not see this as an option at several, several locations.

I was actually just looking at it in its holster and wondering if this is something I would like, it actually is and my wife so far does not want to part with it. So here I am looking on their website. Thought I would leave this review. As I was looking at some options.

I carry a Glock 41 when in big country however, this Fusion Thorn is definitely on my mind. I like it more than Springfield, some Colts and Kimber. That’s my wheelhouse. Is definitely on Par with Dan Wessons and Les Baer’s. I became a huge fan, not fanboy but a fan none the less. Fusion, two thumbs way up.
