The Fusion Freedom Series Reaction Model 1911 Build Kit is the perfect choice for those looking to build their own classic government-style 1911 pistol. With its full size 5" frame and round top slide, this kit is available in three powerful calibers – 45 ACP, 9mm, and 10mm. The slide features Fusion's aggressive "Sure-Grip" front and rear cocking serrations for a secure grip, and the HD-chrome barrel with 1:16 twist ensures excellent accuracy and ease of cleaning.
The 1911 Build Kit also features a classic commander ring hammer and a .250 beavertail grip safety, Novak compatible sights, and an extended combat thumb safety and slide stop. The tuned Power style extractor, beveled magazine well, and fitted frame, slide, and barrel precision CNC machined from solid billet bar-stock ensure optimal performance and reliability. The skeletonized hammer is lightweight for faster cycling and the lowered and relieved ejection port provides improved performance. The positive barrel lock-up ensures accuracy right out of the box, and the all-steel construction with no plastic parts adds to the pistol's durability and reliability.
The premium red cocobolo grips are hand-selected using Fusion's "Hand Select" process to ensure the highest quality materials, and the mag capacity is 8+1 with a weight of 39.05oz without the mag. The kit comes with one magazine and a Fusion limited lifetime warranty. Additionally, the 1911 Build Kit is compatible with standard Colt-style replacement parts.
This "build it yourself" kit requires only small hand tools such as a hammer, pin punches, and possibly files/stones to complete. Shipping to an FFL is required for the serialized frame, and some fitting and tuning may be required. The other issue you need to be aware of is the trigger track inside the frame, it is very narrow and you will need to get out your files if you want to replace the trigger with any of the aftermarket types other than what Fusion offers. The frame is cut for the Gold Cup width shoe so be aware of this also before ordering a new replacement trigger.
I had a few feeding issues but a quick polishing of the feed ramp cured this and afterward this pistol eats anything including wad cutters without a bobble. The barrel is fit tightly in the slide, the barrel bushing is also very tight and this makes this pistol as accurate as any higher priced custom guns I own. The front strap checkering is a much appreciated addition. The out of the box trigger pull is very crisp and acceptable. After firing 2K plus rounds out of the Reaction I am very pleased with the purchase and the results of this kit and would recommend it highly to anyone withing to own a high quality, accurate 1911 pistol with the added benefit of pride in ownership "I built it myself". Other than the issues mention above which I state as a just be aware, for the money spent you cannot go wrong with this kit. Lastly, the customer service is outstanding. I communicated with them on multiple occasions and you will get an answer quickly every single time, no matter how trivial the question might be. The best customer service response I have ever had dealing with a firearms manufacturer period.
